Federated Insurance® Encourages Member Clients to “Fight Fire with Fire … Prevention” During National Fire Prevention Awareness Week
Fire Prevention and Safety Checklist
Fire prevention is an essential topic for business owners, so Federated® is sharing these three steps with members to help them begin preventing dangerous, deadly, and avoidable fires.
Step One: Educate their employees on the consequences of a potential fire at their business.
The impacts of a fire can be deadly, expensive, time-consuming, and overwhelming. It isn’t just business owners that could be affected. Their employees, their families, and their livelihoods are also at stake.
Step Two: Implement a fire prevention plan at their business.
This plan should include several key components, including designating a person who is responsible for fire prevention at the business. In addition, conducting regular fire safety walkthroughs and completing a fire safety checklist to help identify sources of fire at the business is imperative.
Step Three: Repeat steps one and two.
Federated members are encouraged to take time to focus on training their employees. Their business can benefit from implementing a fire prevention plan and using a fire prevention checklist, as well as continuously evaluating for fire hazards.
Fire prevention is an everyday practice. It could be the difference between a successful business and one that is gone the next day. All Federated members are encouraged to review and implement fire prevention plans at their business and receive personal consultation on fire prevention topics from the knowledgeable risk consultants at Federated’s Risk Management Resource Center.
